The Westmoreland County Tourette Syndrome Support Group is a group of dedicated individuals who meet regularly to share information,
resources, strength, and hope for anyone touched by this often misdiagnosed
and frequently misunderstood neurological disorder. Along with those individuals
who have Tourette, we welcome their family members and friends, and anyone else
in the community who would like to know more. Teachers, neighbors,
employers, bus drivers... anyone with an interest in Tourette should come and
join us.
The group now meets at the ARC of Westmoreland, 316 Donohoe Rd., Greensburg. 724-837-8159.
Upcoming meeting: April 6, 2009.

Some common tics include: eye blinking, throat clearing, facial grimaces, shoulder jerks, grunting, sniffing. Tics come and go, wax and wane. Onset of tics is usually between 7-9 years of age, and may or may not last a lifetime.
